So my JongKey post made its way to a kpop forum.
YIIIIIIIKES.
Some valid criticisms, like how I relied heavily on my own experiences, and how some gay men have the capacity to “navigate bro culture” as well as straight men. I like the feedback. Sure.
A little bit of ignorance in terms of “how can you say homosexuality has serious consequences and also say Key’s free to experiment? It can’t be both.” Homophobic environments/internalized homophobia results in man-on-man sex on the downlow. Check out the m4m section of Craigslist sometime. Serious consequences, serious sex. Oh wow, the sex. But anyway, interesting feedback. Great.
But what most tickles me is how upset people got over my imagining Taemin as a sadist.
How upset? SO UPSET.
If we’re going to try to examine kpop idols strictly rationally and only make conclusions based on hard evidence, no one could actually make a case that Taemin’s a sadist. He hasn’t said it, and we haven’t seen it. There’s nothing to support it.
But that’s not going to stop me from making wild speculations and creating baseless portrayals of him. It’s fun, and I can, and I will continue to do so. Does that make me a bullshitting douchebag?
Yes. It does.
Am I a spineless coward for not making an account on a kpop forum to defend myself rightfully?
Yes. Absolutely.
I will run screaming from forums at all costs.
That said, if anyone on said forum happens across this blog again,
BRING MORE PERSONAL ATTACKS, BABY.
